It's all about "Change"
It's all about "Change". How many times have we heard that word over the last couple of months? No matter how our political "change" is going to affect us after this Tuesday, the autumn change we're seeing on the Flats in the Tampa Bay area has been great for the fishing.
Air and water temperatures have been dropping. It seems a little early this year but i for one am all for it. I love summer fishing early in the morning but I won't miss the scorching heat of the midday sun at all this fall. Neither will the fish. This time of year is when the reds school up in large numbers, snook go on a feeding frenzy to fatten up for the winter and the trout begin to bombard our flats.
This fishing following our first couple of cold fronts this fall has been great. Mostly upper slot redfish, keeper sized trout, and some really nice snook. Live bait is still readily available and the fish are tearing it up. The only few exceptions we've had to great fishing has been when a front has stalled over us. The high pressure systems and bluebird, cloudless skies made game fish wary and less aggressive.
Look for the rest of November to be great for fishing as well as comfortable for everyone on the boat as the weather should continue to be mild.
