Apalachicola Fishin's Fine
Capt. Mike Holland with a Bull Red caught on his boat last month.
As promised - we will continue to keep you updated on our local situation.
According to government sources,
"The fisheries, wildlife and seafood off of Florida's coast in state waters are safe and there are no alerts at this time. At this time, there are no indications of any health risks to Floridians due to the Deepwater Horizon incident. The Department of Health (DOH) and DEP are closely monitoring health and environmental impacts to Florida's beaches and will notice an advisory if conditions become unsafe. "
Translation: There is no oil here in the Apalachicola Bay area, from Mexico Beach to Alligator Point. The Gulf isn't closed here, the fishing is fine and the oysters are great eating. We've had Tripletail on the hook and tarpon in the sights.
So don't listen to the negative hype or rumors going around - just check with us here at the source. You can also get local info from the Apalachicola Bay Chamber of Commerce - www.apalachicolabay.org .
Bottom Line - Come on down, right now the fishin's fine!
