Huge Snook Inside Clearwater

I spoke with Captain Rich Hartman of Seminol yesterday. He was telling me that his charter last Tuesday targeted snook in the intercoastal waterway between Clearwater Pass and Indian Rocks Beach. A total of 12 snook were caught with most well over the slot size limit. Two were in the slot, but most of the rest were over 40" and 30lb's. Mullet around 5" were the bait of choice for these big line siders. The fish were holding to docks and other structure. Heavy tackle, 30lb test main line, is needed to pull these fish from the structure. He was also telling me that his friends from Dog Fish Tackle in Pinellas Park are reporting that trout fishing on the grass flats of St Joseph Sound is producing 50 fish a day. Shrimp, jigs, D.O.A. or Berkley Saltwater Shrimp, and slug baits will catch most of these trout.
