Fort Pierce

I spoke with Evan at Evans Bait & Tackle in Fort Pierce this afternoon. He tells me that high winds have kept most anglers from going offshore. On the few occasions when the wind slowed enough for boats to get out of the inlet, they have found large numbers of mangrove snapper in just 30ft - 40ft of water. Inside the inlet the fishing is excellent. Evans customers are catching lots of snook on live bait. Live jumbo shrimp, finger mullet, pinfish, or greenbacks fished around structure at night usually works best for snook. Fishing for speckled trout and black drum on local grass flats is also excellent. The trout will hit jigs, shrimp, mullet and greenbacks. The black drum like pieces of crab and clams.
