Homosassa Scallops & Grouper Are Plentiful

I just got off of the phone with Jason at McRae's Bait House in Homosassa. He was telling me that scalloping is still outstanding. Lots of people are going scalloping and they are all coming in with there limit. Jason tells me that the largest concentration of scallops has mooved farther out to 8ft depths. Shallow water grouper fishing is excellent. Keeper sized grouper can be caught from around rocks in 6ft of water and out. Fish a piece of cut mullet on the bottom near the rocks. "Pinfish will start to peck at it, then the grouper just has to have it!" Jason says. Redfish are all over the inshore islands. Look for them under the mangroves at high tide, and in deeper channels and swashes at low tide. Live shrimp, cut mullet or ladyfish, and Berkley Saltwater Shrimp in New Penny are the best baits. Speckled trout fishing is also good. Look for the trout in deeper water grass flats. A live shrimp or Berkley Saltwater Shrimp in New Penny suspended under a Cajun Thunder float is the best way to catch trout. For more information contact;
