Tampa Fishing Charters

Trout
Trout Season is still open in Tarpon Springs and it's a good thing because the bite has really turned on. Charters this week in Tarpon Springs limited out on trout as well as had to throw back several over slot fish. Though trout ate live bait we caught most on artificial lures such at the Berkley Gulp Shrimp. Look for the bite to remain strong throughout the winter.

What's Hot and What's Next!
Spotted Sea Trout Invasion! Cooler weather like we've had recently marks the return of large spotted sea trout to our area. The season for them is open from Tarpon Springs north but closed from Tarpon Springs south (including Tampa Bay) until January 1 2009.

Redfish are still biting good and during stretches of good weather, the fish have been schooling up. 40-50 fish days are not out of the question when the conditions are right.

Dec. '08 and Jan. '09... This is quite possibly the best time of the year to fish for spotted sea trout and the one of the best times of the year to fish for redfish. Fishing charters during this time of year in the Tampa Bay and Tarpon Springs areas get a shot at numerous of redfish as well as a chance to take home a cooler full of trout for diner.

Trout season is open from Tarpon Springs north Nov./Dec. and closed south of Tarpon Springs (including Tampa Bay). Trout season is closed during Jan. from Tarpon Springs north but open in the south region from Tarpon Springs south (including Tampa Bay).
