Homosassa - Saltwater Fishing Report
Surely as the sun comes up everyday, so do the tarpon come up or in from deep water. As an angler, I would be so excited to lay a fly in front of a laid up or cruising poon. Instead, my job is to give clients shots on fish from all over the country.
Being on the stern is not too bad with push pole in hand positioning the skiff for perfect angles to head on tarpon for the fly rodder. Today's tip is making sure the boat is either stopped or drifting away slowly from the tarpon.
In scouting the area yesterday, I found a few river poons that have dropped out onto the flats and a couple of schools of migratory fish from the deep. Each day we hope more trickle in.
The big boys should arrive this week and stay throughout the end of the month and into June.
Want to try your luck for these silver kings. Contact me. For all you short notice guys, May 8 & 10 is open. Cost is $500 for 1 angler or $600 for 2 persons.
Homosassa Fishing Forecast:
It just don't get any better in May for tarpon and cobia. Look for cobes on rays and around markers this month.
Target Species:
tarpon on fly, reds, trout, cobia
