David Patten caught this 9 lb redfish with Capt. Chris Robinson on 10/22/07
Hard to believe that it's the first weekend in November already. It's our Seafood Festival weekend in Apalachicola, complete with the Blessing of the Fleet, Oyster shucking & eating, a parade on Saturday, rides & Sammy Kershaw playing Saturday night. For details check out http://www.blogger.com/ This Friday night we will close Commerce St. (just in front of my office) and will be holding the 3rd annuual Oyster Roast & Seafest Street Party. Food, Drink, Music & great company! Tickets for this Chamber fundraiser are still available at the Chamber of Commerce Office 850-653-9419.
Capt. Chris & Capt David have been scouting daily for striped bass and report that they are starting to bite in the lower river. The stripers are 3 to 6 lbs and they are all striped bass, no hybrids yet. In the last 4 days they've had about 10 to the boat. They won't be fly fishing for them until they are available in larger numbers. Dave reports that the River fishing is Outstanding with clear water and it is protected from the wind that we have been having.
Flounder have been really biting well - today they were 4 for 4 and last Sunday Chris had a 13 year old girl catch 3 in 3 casts, totally outfishing the guide and the 4 adults in the boat next to them. The speckled trout are mostly all slot length (15" to 20") and very plentiful and we're seeing tons of Redfish. Oh, I almost forgot to mention that Chris has even caught a couple of largemouth bass in the 3 to 5 lb range - he claims that he hasn't caught largemouth here in several years.
JUST LISTED!!
