Snook Nook Fishing Report 3-3-08

MARCH 3, 08 FISHING

TROUT SEASON IS OPEN, NO THEY WILL NOT CHANGE THE SLOT SIZE ON THE SNOOK, AND THERE WILL BE NO SEASON FOR GOLIATH GROUPER AND ANY DAY FOR THE COBIA. THAT ANSWERS ALL THE MOST ASKED QUESTIONS LETS GO CATCHA FISH.

LOTS OF SLOT TROUT, THE BIG TROUT KNOW THE SEASON IS OPEN BUT IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO TAKE HOME A FEW YOU WANT THE SMALLER FISH. GOOD CATCHS REPORTED ON ALL BAITS. JERK BAITS, MIR-O-LURES, SOFT RUBBER SHRIMP, SPOONS THE LIST GOES ON AND THE LOCATIONS JUST AS MANY. FROM THE NORTH AND SOUTH FORK TO THE INDIAN RIVER THE TROUT BITE IS ON. MOST FISH IN THE FIFTEEN INCH SLOT AND A FEW TO TWENTY INCH ALL IN THE SLOT. THE BITE HAS BEEN ON IN THAT TWO TO THREE FEET OF WATER ALL DAY WITH PLENTY OF SLOT SNOOK MIXED IN TO KEEP YOU PAYING ATTENTION. RED FISH A LITTLE DIFFERENT, NOT SURE WHERE THEY GO AFTER SUN UP, THE BITE IS EARLY. SLOT SNOOK IN THE FLATS, HIGH TIDE MID AFTER NOON HAS BEEN THE MOST PRODUCTIVE TIMES. THE POMPS CONTINUE TO KEEP BAITING ANGLERS. THREE HERE, TWO THERE AND PLENTY TO SEE JUST NOT HUNGRY. BRIDGE ANGLERS THE SAME, GOOD RUN FOR TWENTY MINUTES THEN QUITE, THE FISH ARE HERE AND IN NUMBERS FROM THE NORTH FORK TO SOUTH BRIDGE IN FT. PIERCE, DEEP AND SHALLOW JUST NOT HUNGRY. NYLURES, DOC’S JIGS EVEN A SHRIMP ON A CORK WILL CATCH THEM, THE QUESTION IS WHEN. ANGLERS THIS MORNING REPORT A BITE AT THE JENSEN BRIDGE BUT I KNOW BUY THE TIME I GET THERE IT WILL BE OVER. BIG SNOOK AT THE BRIDGES DURING THE DARK HOURS, LEAVE THE RULER AT HOME AND BRING THE CAMERA, THESE FISH ARE WELL OVER THE SLOT, CHARTRUCE FLAIR HAWKS ARE THE BAIT OF CHOICE. SKIM THE BOTTOM WITH THE JIG, SIXTY POUND MONO LEADER AND HANG ON YOU WILL FEAL THE THUMP. LOTS OF DRUM, SHEEPHEAD, LADY FISH AND JACKS TO KEEP YOU BUSY. HEARD ABOUT SOME SMALL TARPON HANGING OUT IN THE INLET, NOT A TARGET, MOST JUST GAVE THESE FISH PLENTY OF ROOM.

OFF- SHORE STILL SCATTERED, NO PATTERN, NO REASON JUST THERE. THE ACTION ZONE HAS BEEN ONE HUNDRED TO TWO HUNDRED FEET ALL WEEK. ON THE CATCH LIST IS QUALITY DOLPHIN, SAILS A FEW SMALL WAHOO AND KINGS. THESE FISH WERE HERE AND THERE AND YOU HAPPENED TO BE THERE THE SAME TIME AS THEM. ANGLERS GOT ONE SHOT AT THEM AND IF THEY MISSED IT OFF TO TROLL LOOKING FOR THE NEXT, ONE HERE ONE THERE. LIVE BAIT CONTINUES TO BE A HARD FIND WHAT WITH THE CHANGING SURFACE TEMPS, BAITS ARE ALL DEEP. PLENTY OF MULLET ON THE INSIDE TAKE SOME OUT; MULLET ARE A SNICKERS BAR TO MOST FISH OR A BRIGHT MYLAR SEA WHICH OVER A BALLY HOO TOP THE BAIT LIST. A GOOD TIME OF THE YEAR FOR A TEASER CHAIN, LET THE FISH KNOW YOU ARE THERE, ANY THING TO CATCH THEIR ATTENTION.

SURF ANGLERS, STILL PLENTY OF BLUE FISH, AND MORE BLUES. THIS IS THE TIME WHEN THE BIGGER BLUES START OT SHOW AND YEWS THERE IS PLENTY IN THE RIVERS. BUT TO THE BEACH IT HAS BEEN BLUES AND MORE BLUES. EARLY, LATE IF YOU ARE A BLUE FISH FAN OR JUST WANT SOME THING TO PULL ON THE LINE TAKE A WALK ON THE SURF EDGE. FEW POMPANO UP CLOSE BUT THE LONG CASTERS HAVE CAUGHT THEIR LIMITS. HOBE SOUND AND FREDERICK DOUGLAS ARE THE TWO THAT THE LIMITS ARE COMING FROM. NICE WHITING CATCHS REPORTED IN THE EARLY AFTER NOON WITH A FEW CROAKERS MIXED IN. PAY ATTENTION THE BIG JACKS ARE THERE ALL DAY AND THEY WILL TEACH YOUR EQUIPMENT TO SWIM.

TILL NEXT WEEK ANY THOUGHT ON THE LIVE THURSDAY NIGHT CAST????????????????? HENRY
