Snook-Nook Webcast Report 2-7-08

This is a brief recap of Henry's Thursday night web cast form the Snook-Nook in Jensen Beach, Florida. Click on the link at the end of this report to watch the archived webcast for yourself.

Beach- The bluefish bite is on! Fish in the morning for the most action. If you are not catching fish, walk down the beach untill you finde them. The blues will hit spoons, cut bait, big topwater plugs, or anything that moves. Pompano, whiting, croakers, and black drum are in the first though, about 12' from the sand. Frozen shrimp is the best bait.

River- The river water is dirty. Look for clean water to find the fish. Some good spots are the east end of the Jensen Causeway and the southwest shore of the Stewart Causeway. Redfish, trout, and snook are biting well in the clean water. Live shrimp and soft rubber baits like the DOA Shrimp and the Billy Bay Shrimp fished under a rattle float or poping float will catch fish. The pompano bite is slow due to warmer then usuale weather. Your best chance to catch pompano is in deeper water on an incoming tide in the morning. Snook fishing is good. Fish in the slot are hard to finde, but oversized snook are around the bridges, undersized snook are on the flats.

Offshore- The fish are scattered in about 80'-130' of water. Some dolphin, sailfish, king mackerel, and a few wahoo are being caught. Look for blue water and troll untill you find the fish. Put some of your baits down, 20'-40', and change your fishing tactics to catch more fish. Some good baits to troll are riged ballyhoo, Sea Witch, a blue and white Islander with a ballyhoo, and cedar plugs.
