IS IT EVER GOING TO STOP RAINING????? SEPTEMBER WE HAD RAIN ALMOST EVERY DAY, BUT IT WAS THE NORMAL, TEN MINUTES AT BEAT AND GONE THEN HOURS LATER BACK. BUT THE SUN WAS SHINING. THE LAST WEEK IT HAS BEEN OVER CAST, STORM TYPE WIND AND RAIN AND IT HAS BEEN ALL DAY. WE HAD FOUR HOURS OF SUN SHINE TO DAY BUT THE CLOUDS ARE BACK AND SO IS THE WIND AND RAIN. WATER IS TURBID, BEACH IS WASHED AWAY, SEAS AT FIVE TO EIGHT AND REALLY STRONG TIDES. SO THE FISH DON’T CARE THEY ARE ALREADY WET.
IT’S BEEN SNOOK WEATHER, LOTS OF BIG FISH. CONDITIONS HAVE BEEN THAT ONLY THE BIG FISH CAN FIGHT THAT STRONG CURRENT. THEY POSITION THEM SELVES AT THE BRIDGES, CHANNEL OPENINGS, ANY NARROW THAT OPENS TO THE WIDE WATER. NORMALLY FEEDING AT THE BOTTOM OR CLOSE TO IT THEY WILL COME UP AND FEED THE WHOLE COLUMN. EVERY THING IS SWEPT PAST AND THEY BEING THE STRONG ONE WILL TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE WEATHER. OVER CAST ALL DAY MEANS THERE IS NOT A BAD TIME TO COME DOWN AND GET A LURE WET.
TWENTY POUND TACKLE, FIFTY POUND LEADERS, AND TWO TO THREE OUNCE BAITS AND DO NOT FORGET THE FOUL WEATHER GEAR. CAST UP INTO THE CURRENT FAR ENOUGH THAT IT IS SWEPT INTO THE ZONE YOU ARE WORKING. ANGLERS REPORT MANY FISH, 6, 8, 12 FISH, AND MAYBE JUST ONE IN THAT FOUR INCH SLOT. I KNEW THAT SLOT 28" TO 32" WAS GOING TO BE TOUGH BUT I DIDN’T THINK THAT HARD. THE OTHER SIDE IS THE NUMBERS OF FISH THAT IS THE KEY, LOTS OF HOOK UPS AND IT IS THE ACTION THAT REALLY COUNTS. YES, THAT RULING IS HARD BUT IS SO GOOD THE SEE OUR MARINE FISHIERS DEPARTMENT BE PRO-ACTIVE RATHER THAN RE-ACTIVE. FROM THE NUMBERS REPORTED IT LOOKS LIKE THE SNOOK WITH BE WITH UNTIL WE SCREW IT UP SOME OTHER WAY.
SOUTH AND SOUTH EAST GALE WIND WILL BRING IN THE DOLPHIN. FINNALY ON THE CATCH LIST WITH SOME SORT OF PATTERN AND THE WIND HAS KEPT ALL BOATS AT THE DOCK, BUT THE ANGLERS ARE JUST WAITING FOR IT TO LIE DOWN, BLUE WATER IS LOOKING REAL GOOD. BAIT MAY BE A BIT OF A PROBLEM WITH THE RUN-OFF FROM THE RAIN AND THE TUBITY FROM THE BEACH SO TAKE SOME, THERE IS MULLET EVERY WHERE, BOTH BIG AND SMALL. THE QUESTION IS WHEN?
WELL NOT SURE OF THE MULLET RUN, I HOPE WE DID NOT MISS IT. WITH THIS CONDITION, NOT SURE I STILL THINK IT IS A BIT EARLY. ANGLERS VISITING THE AREA HAVE FOUND PLENTY OF TROUT, REDS, JACKS, BLUES, BIG LADY FISH AND A TARPON OR TWO ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE RIVER. THEY CAME TO FISH AND FISH THEY WILL, ILIVE HERE I CAN WAIT TILL THE NEXT SUNNY DAY. TILL NEXT WEEK, GO CATCH A SNOOK……………………………………………………..HENRY
