Some fairly strong winds have made the Gulf choppy and has kept fishermen close to shore near Bradenton. Annamae at Corkey's Live Bait & Tackle in Bradenton tells me that some nice permit are being taken about 3 miles offshore of Long Boat Key. Pass crabs and blue crabs are the best baits for permit. A few kingfish are also being taken near shore. A few king mackerel are also being caught inside area passes. Floating a large bluerunner, greenback or white bait under a balloon should get the attention of any kingfish in the area. Spanish mackerel are every where. Small spoons or Got-Cha Plugs will catch spanish mackerel. Redfish are in Palma Sola Bay. Small Black Salty, live shrimp, and the Redfish Magic Lure all work well on reds.
