Bradenton Fishing is Good

I spoke with Annamae at Corkey's Live Bait & Tackle in Bradenton this morning. She was telling me that fishing is good with some nice catches of speckled trout and redfish coming from Palma Sola Bay and the Manatee River. Look for the trout on grass flats in 3ft - 6ft of water, around docks at night, or in the drop offs around sand bars. Redfish will hold to mangrove shore lines, oyster bars, and docks. Shrimp are the best bait, along with pinfish and Black Salty's for the trout. Permit are eating small pass crabs around Sister Key, Longboat Key, and in the intercoastal. Tarpon fishing is very good along the beach and especially on the west side of Egmont Key. Big blue crabs are the bait of choice for these tarpon due to the large number of blue crabs and pass crabs being flushed from Tampa Bay on the out going tides. Corkey's caries a large variety of live and frozen baits including large and small pass and blue crabs, pinfish, shrimp, and Black Salty baits. They also carry all kinds of frozen bait, and provide in house rod and reel repair. For more information contact;
