Fort Lauderdale

I spoke with Tom at Kingsbury & Sons Tackle in Fort Lauderdale this afternoon. He was telling me that as soon as the wind layed down a couple of days ago, the offshore action picked up. The ladies fishing tournament this last weekend produced several good sized dolphin and yesterday one of his customers landed 16 dolphin from 5lb-8lb's. The dolphin are hitting lures trolled around weed lines 4-6 miles offshore. A 47lb wahoo was also taken yesterday by a boat trolling the weed lines. Blackfin tuna are being caught kite fishing around the same areas along with a blue marlin per day in the 200lb range. Ballyhoo are taking the tuna, marlin, and wahoo. Closer to shore, snook are biting very well on the beach, in the inlets, and around bridges. Snook season is closed in all of Florida, so all snook caught must be released. Tom was telling me that there is almost no bait fish around Fort Lauderdale and Miami right now. Pinfish, Redtail Hawks, and Zara Spooks are all good baits to use for snook until the schools of bait fish return. For more information contact;
