Ponce Inlet Has Lots of Kings!

I spoke with Al at Rip Tide Bait & Tackle at Ponce Inlet this morning. He was telling that the fishing is good in and around Ponce Inlet. King mackerel are every where, but the largest concentrations are just outside of the inlet. Trolling live bait or anchoring and chumming will result in multiple hook ups. Bluefish, between 4lb - 5lb, are active early in the morning in and around the inlet. Silver spoons and Got-Cha Plugs are good baits for bluefish. Keeper mangrove snapper are being caught early in the morning from the pier at Rip Tide bait & Tackle. Live shrimp are the best bait. Pompano are being caught in Ponce Inlet and on the beach. Sand flees and pompano jigs are the best baits. Cobia are being caught around structure near the beach. Grouper and snapper are on offshore reefs and wrecks. Local captains are reporting 10 - 15 shorts for every one keeper grouper or snapper being caught, but the keepers are all nice sized fish. Pinfish are the best bait for grouper, snapper, and cobia.
