Tampa Bay

I spoke with Clearwater Bait & Tackle in Clearwater today. They were telling me that a high, mid-afternoon tide , is bringing good numbers of redfish to the bridges on the Courtney Campbell Causeway. Fish shrimp on the bottom, on the down current side of the bridges, to catch redfish. Also look for reds on the oyster bars just south of where the old power plant stood at the top of the bay, and along mangrove shorelines, during these high tides. Flounder are biting Tsunami jigs around creek mouths and mangrove shoreline with good water flow and a mud bottom. Schools of spanish mackerel are in the open waters of Tampa Bay. Fish for them early morning, late afternoon, and during peek tidal movement. I also spoke with Larry at Mastry's Bait & Tackle Inc in St Petersburg today. He told me that big schools of tarpon are in the mouth of Tampa Bay and along the beaches. Crabs and greenbacks are the best baits. For more information contact;
