Every Thing is Biting in Naples

I spoke with Phil at Captain Pete's Bait & Tackle in Naples today. He was telling me that every thing is biting right now. The local party boats are fishing about 15 miles offshore and are catching grouper, snapper, and sharks. Inshore, Phil's customers are catching snook, trout, redfish, and spanish mackerel. Snook season is closed, so any snook caught must be released, but you can catch them on the beaches and in area passes from late afternoon until early in the morning. Pinfish and whitebait are the best baits. Speckled trout will be on grass flats in the day and around lighted docks at night. Live shrimp, jigs, and slug baits will catch trout day or night and suspending twitch baits work well at night. Redfish will be around mangrove shorelines, docks, and oyster bars. Live shrimp, gold spoons, and cut mullet or ladyfish are all good baits for redfish. Spanish mackerel will be in passes, on the beach, and a few will be on the grass flats. Silver spoons and Got-Cha Plugs are the best baits. Tarpon are every where. Pass crabs, small blue crabs and greenbacks are the best baits for tarpon. For more information contact
