Cedar KeyFishing is Good

I spoke with Leslie at Fishbonz in Cedar Key this morning. She was telling me that fishing is good, with redfish and speckled trout biting inshore, spanish mackerel on the flats and in the gulf, and cobia offshore. Look for redfish around mangrove shoreline, oyster bars, and docks. Live shrimp and cut bait are the best baits for redfish. Trout are on grass flats and drop offs. look for sand 'holes' in the grass. Trout will use these to ambush bait as it swims by. Shrimp suspended just above the grass on a popping cork is the best bait for trout. Spanish mackerel will be most prevalent around schools of bait fish. Look for birds on the water, especially if they are diving, to locate bait schools. A small silver spoon or Got-Cha Plug will catch spanish mackerel. Cobia will be around wrecks, reefs, or other structure offshore. Pinfish are usually the best bait. For more information contact;
