I spoke with Henry at Snook Nook Discount Bait & Tackle in Jensen Beach this morning. He tells me that fishing is excellent whether you fish the river, the surf, or offshore. In the Indian River, redfish can be caught before sun rise from Bear Point south, on the east or west side of the river. Shrimp and finger mullet are the best bait. Speckled trout are on the east side of Jensen bridge and on the north side of Roosevelt bridge. Look for them along grass edges in 3ft of water. A shrimp or jerk bait worked slowly will get the trout to bite. Snapper are also around the bridges. Shrimp is the best bait. Tarpon around 60lb to 80lb are around the Crossroads and the Power Plant. Bring different types of bait because they will only eat shrimp one day, finger mullet the next, and DOA Terror Eyz the next. In the surf, a few bluefish and jacks are still being caught but whiting and croaker are biting very well. Shrimp, live or dead, fished on the bottom close to shore will catch whiting and croaker. Lots of big tarpon are on the beach all the way to St Lucie Inlet. Crabs and sardines are the best bait. Offshore, dolphin are plenty full but are not holding to any kind of a pattern.Look for any type of floating debris and troll around it. The bigger dolphin are in 200ft of water. King mackerel are in 30ft of water. Troll what ever type of bait fish is swimming in the area to catch kingfish. Grouper around 15lb's and mutton snapper are in 60ft - 80ft of water. Sardines are the best bait for grouper and mutton snapper. For more information contact;
