I spoke with Tim at MacRae's Bait House in Homosassa this morning. He was busy preparing for the 23rd Annual Cobia "BIG" Fish Tournament out of MacRae's Bait House in Homosassa and Twin Rivers Marina in Crystal River this weekend. This two day event features $13,000 in cash and prizes, with $6,000 going to the angler with the largest cobia. The 200 boat field can win top honors in any of three categories, cobia, grouper, and spotted trout, and every angler weighing a fish is registered to win a door prize. Other activities include a barbecue on Saturday, a fish fry on Sunday, and live entertainment all weekend. The event is hosted by The Homosassa Game Fish Club and all weigh ins will be held at MacRae's. Tim tells me that the water is beautiful and fishing has been excellent this week. A 32lb cobia was brought to the docks yesterday and grouper, trout, bluefish, redfish, and spanish mackerel are all biting well. For more information contact;
