I just got off the phone with Victor at Gulf Breeze Bait & Tackle in Gulf Breeze. He was telling me that fishing is excellent inshore, on the beach, in the pass, and offshore. Speckled trout are all over the grass flats. Shrimp, jigs, and slug baits will catch the most trout. Redfish and flounder are in the pass, and around docks and other structure inshore. Shrimp and mud minnows are the best baits. Spanish mackerel and king mackerel are thick on the Beach Pier and in the pass. Small Clark Spoons or Got-Cha Plugs will catch the spanish, blue runners, cigar minnows, and hardtails all work well on kingfish. Pompano and whiting are biting well in the surf but floating grass is making fishing for them dificult. Sand flees, shrimp, and pompano jigs are the baits of choice. Red snapper and triggerfish are thick on structure 10 miles to 25 miles into the Gulf. Cigar minnows and sardines are the best baits. Amberjack, dolphin, wahoo, and blue marlin can be caught 30 miles offshore and out. Troll for them around the Nipple, the 131, the Elbow, and deep water rigs. For more information contact;
