Dunedin Causway

I stoped by the Dunedin Fishing Center in Dunedin yesterday and spoke with Donnie. He tells me that the fishing is excellent! His customers fish mostly from, and around, the Dunedin Causeway going to Honeymoon Island. They are catching lots of redfish on "Anything plastic!". Most of the reds are over the slot limit of 18"-27". On the north side of the causeway, speckled trout are every where. Donnie tells me that if you wade the north side of the causeway, between the two bridges, you are almost guaranteed to catch your limit of trout. One of which will be over 20". Whiting are thick at the pet beach on Honeymoon Island. Fish the out going tide for the whiting. Donnie was also telling me that the fishing is not as good on the south side of the causeway but you never know what you will catch there. Last Saturday he caught an 18" sheepshead on the south side. The best live bait is shrimp. The best artificials are the Blood Hound lures and the Exude grub tail jigs in the Clear Gold Flake color. These are working better then the scented lures right now because of the large number of pinfish in the area. For more information contact;
