Panama City

I spoke with Tom at Half Hitch Tackle in Panama City this morning. He tells me that the water is still a little to cool, so the fishing is slow. Trout season opens today, in the N.W. and N.E. sections of the state, and it happens that speckled trout are the only fish that is biting very well in there area. Fish the creeks and bayous for trout. Redfish are biting fairly well in the same areas. Pompano fishing was good last week but has slowed recently. The best baits are live shrimp, DOA shrimp, and the Berkley Gulp. Offshore, grouper fishing is still closed in the gulf, but Tom is getting reports of good catches of some nice sized snapper. Use cut bait, squirlfish, or whatever bait fish can be caught at the reef or wreck you are fishing. Remember, red snapper fishing is closed in the Gulf of Mexico through April 14th.For more information contact;
