Gulf Breeze

I spoke with Greer at Gulf Breeze Bait & Tackle in Gulf Breeze today. He was telling me that the pompano fishing on the beach is good. Sand flees and pompano jigs produce the most fish. Sheapshead fishing is also good around bridge supports and dock pilings. Offshore, the cobia are starting to show. Greer has gotten reports of 6 or 7 being caught in the last week. He tells me that once the water warms another 5 degrees, large numbers of cobia will begin to show. Live eels are the best cobia bait but cobia jigs, pin fish, and small crabs also work well.
