Bradenton

Some fairly strong winds have made the Gulf choppy and has kept fishermen close to shore near Bradenton. Annamae at Corkey's Live Bait & Tackle in Bradenton tells me that some nice permit are being taken about 3 miles offshore of Long Boat Key. Pass crabs and blue crabs are the best baits for permit. A few kingfish are also being taken near shore. A few king mackerel are also being caught inside area passes. Floating a large bluerunner, greenback or white bait under a balloon should get the attention of any kingfish in the area. Spanish mackerel are every where. Small spoons or Got-Cha Plugs will catch spanish mackerel. Redfish are in Palma Sola Bay. Small Black Salty, live shrimp, and the Redfish Magic Lure all work well on reds. Tarpon are on area beaches and around passes. Pass crabs and blue crabs are the best baits for tarpon. Corkey's sells pass crabs and blue crabs along with all of your fishing needs.
