Nassau Sound

I spoke with Bill at Nassau Sound Bait & Tackle on the south end of Amelia Island this afternoon. He was telling me that fishing is good in Nassau Sound and the Intracoastal Waterway. Whiting are in the Sound and will take frozen shrimp. Pompano are on the beach and in Nassau Sound. They will eat sand flees, live shrimp, and pompano jigs. Speckled trout are in the Intracoastal Waterway and in the Sound. Look for them on shell beds and in drop offs. Mud minnows and live shrimp are the best baits. Redfish are in the back country. Black drum can be caught from the old bridge. Pieces of crab are a good bait for black drum. Flounder are starting to move in. Mud minnows are the best bait for flounder followed by shrimp.
