Gulf Breeze, Great Fishing Inside and Out

I spoke with Victor at Gulf Breeze Bait & Tackle in Gulf Breeze this morning. He tells me that the fishing is great all over the Pensacola area with many different species of fish being caught. In Escambia Bay and the Intracoastal Waterway, speckled trout are all over the grass flats. A live shrimp either free lined or under a popping cork works great for catching trout. There are also good numbers of redfish on the grass flats and around docks. Live shrimp and white bait work well for reds. A few early season flounder are also starting to show. Pompano fishing is good in the surf. Sand flees, pompano jigs, and live shrimp all work well for catching pompano. Offshore, the reefs and wrecks are holding amberjack, red snapper, and grouper. Anchor near the structure and look for amberjack circling above. Hard tails and pinfish are great baits for amberjack. Drop them to about the same depths the aj's are swimming and hold on! Cigar minnows and pinfish will catch the red snapper and grouper. Keep your bait on or near the bottom just off of the structure. Offshore trolling near the edge and the nipple is excellent right now. The blue water has moved in close bringing wahoo, tuna and dolphin with it. For more information contact;
