Pensicola Fishing is Hot Inshore, Hotter Offshore

I spoke with Victor at Gulf Breeze Bait & Tackle in Gulf Breeze today. He tells me that fishing is very good both inshore and offshore. Speckled trout are all over the grass flats. Live shrimp, Berkley Gulp Shrimp, and Gulp Jerk Shad will all catch lots of trout. Legal sized redfish are holding under docks and other structure. Live shrimp is working best for the reds. A few flounder are starting to show. Drift the pass with live bull minnows to catch flounder. Pompano are still on the beach. Sand flees and live shrimp are the best baits for pompano. Spanish mackerel and king mackerel are near the beach. Spanish mackerel can be caught from the pier on Got-Cha Plugs and Clark Spoons. King mackerel will hit cigar minnows trolled within the first few miles of the beach. Cobia and amberjack are on local wrecks and red snapper are all over reefs and wrecks from near shore to deep water. Pinfish are the best bait for cobia, amberjack, and snapper. Marlin and wahoo are biting very well for anglers trolling blue water around the edge and the nipple. Big yellow fin tuna are hanging around deep water oil rigs. Swordfish can be caught around the spur and De Soto Canyon using giant squid for bait. For more information contact;
