Jupiter Inlet

I spoke with Tommy at Jupiter Bait & Tackle in Jupiter this morning. He tells me that the offshore fishing is very good with dolphin, king mackerel, and spanish mackerel providing the majority of the action. Dolphin are thick in 100ft - 150ft of water. Tommy tells me that there are many big bull dolphin being caught. Most anglers are trolling weed lines, floating debris, or color breaks. A fore line spread, with two lines on the surface and two lines deep, rigged with ballyhoo will help you find the fish. Another tactic used is to find floating debris or weed lines and start chumming. When the fish show, chunks of cut ballyhoo on medium action spinning rods will produce fast and furious action. King mackerel can be caught in the same manner as trolling for dolphin. It is always a good idea to rig at lest two of your trolled baits with a short piece of wire leader for when the kings show.On the beach anglers are catching a few pompano. Sand flees and pompano jigs are the best baits. Spanish mackerel are thick. Got-Cha plugs and Clark Spoons will catch spanish mackerel. Inside Jupiter Inlet, there are lots of snook being caught but most are undersized. Some are larger. One of Tommy's regular customers brought by a 33" snook yesterday. For more information contact;
